Joseph Larucci

Head of Equity Strategies

Joseph has over 24 years of equity trading and fund of hedge funds investment experience. As the Head of Equity Strategies, he manages a team of research professionals responsible for sourcing, underwriting and managing client allocations to Long/Short equity hedge funds. In addition to having managerial oversight of the equity research team, Joseph remains active in the manager due diligence process, which keeps him updated on trends within individual hedge funds and across the broader investment landscape. With almost twenty years of experience evaluating hedge fund managers, he has built relationships throughout the industry and his investment experience acts a resource for analysts at the firm. Joseph is also a key resource for Portfolio Advisory in the construction of client portfolios. Joe is part of the Portfolio Strategies Committee and is a non-voting member of Aksia’s Risk Committee. Prior to becoming a Partner of Aksia in 2006, Joseph was a director and head of the Equity Long/Short sector team, and a member of the Hedge Fund Investment Group Investment Committee, at Credit Suisse. His team was responsible for over $4 billion in equity long/short allocations in North America, Europe, Asia, and the emerging markets. Joseph began his career in 1993 at Cowen and Company as an equity trader for a portfolio management group that managed discretionary long only and long/short hedge fund equity portfolios. In 1998, Joe joined the fund of hedge funds group at Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette Asset Management (DLJAM), which was acquired by Credit Suisse in September 2000. Post-merger, Joe joined the Hedge Fund Investment Group with Credit Suisse where he spent six additional years. Joseph received a BEng in Marine Engineering from the New York Maritime College.
