Maiko Nanao

Strategy Head, Asia

Maiko has over 17 years of fund research, proprietary trading, and investment banking experience. She is a Strategy Head in Aksia’s Tokyo office and is responsible for conducting due diligence on Asia-based funds. Prior to joining Aksia in June 2007, Maiko worked for the Strategic Investment Group of Deutsche Securities in Tokyo from 2004 to 2007 where she focused on principal investments in distressed/stressed situations such as sponsorship finance, self-originated lending and acquisitions, restructuring cases and portfolio investments. From 2003 to 2004, she worked at the M&A Department of Nomura Securities and was engaged in the analysis, structuring and execution of various domestic and international M&A transactions. Maiko started her career in 1999 when she joined the Global High Yield Group of Morgan Stanley in Tokyo where she focused on Japanese and Korean distressed debt. Maiko graduated from Hitotsubashi University in 1999 with a B.A. in Sociology and is a U.S. CPA.
