Maiko Nanao, CPA

Strategy Head, Asia

Maiko has over 19 years of fund research, proprietary trading, and investment banking experience. She is a Strategy Head in Aksia’s Tokyo office and is responsible for sourcing managers, conducting due diligence, and evaluating and monitoring Asia-based funds. In her role, Maiko interacts with managers daily and has a deep understanding of hedge fund, private credit and opportunistic managers in the region. She both monitors managers in which Aksia clients are invested and simultaneously seeks out potential new investment opportunities. Maiko works closely with Aksia’s Portfolio Advisory teams and clients regarding existing and potential investments in Asia. Prior to joining Aksia in June 2007, Maiko was a Vice President at the Strategic Investment Group of Deutsche Securities in Tokyo, where she focused on principal investments in distressed and special situations. She also worked as an investment banking Associate at the M&A Department of Nomura Securities focusing on various domestic and international M&A transactions. Maiko started her career as an Analyst in the Global High Yield group of Morgan Stanley in Tokyo where she focused on Japanese and Korean distressed debt. Maiko graduated from Hitotsubashi University with a B.A. in Sociology and is a U.S. CPA.
